I felt the same way when I drew him! And then when I drew the second comic, I started to add him in and was like "Sorry bub—you've got too much star power. I can't fit you in this one."
Yeah, it's funny how the orientation of the coffin could affect the joke. In the original comic, I put the sides parallel to one another so you couldn't see IN the coffin (and see half a body). Then I thought "Wait—is the joke that someone died DURING the trick and they just put the coffin in there? Or is it funnier that every time a magician dies, they put them in two coffins instead of one?" So I made it two small coffins. And then they COULD sit lengthwise. Boy... explaining jokes takes a lot of words. And does nothing for the punchline, either.
2nd is better but I do love the guy with the shovel in the first one
